The
Importance of Teaching and Learning in the Classroom
HIGHER ED TEACHING
FROM MAGNA PUBLICATIONS
November 12, 2021
Learning and teaching are interrelated. Learning about the most recent developments in the field of education helps effective teachers develop their abilities continuously. But what precisely are teaching and learning, and how can you encourage a synchronistic and fluid interaction between the two? One of the best aspects of the literature on teaching and learning is how diverse it is. If it is drawn from a variety of disciplines, topics, and categories, it can be effective in forming this larger thinking.
Teaching
and Learning in the classroom are all about bridging the gap between the learners
and the teacher. It is connecting the two to create a healthy learning environment.
By this, It construct a classroom which makes the learners explore and bring out
the best in them. The teacher’s duty is to ensure the learning of the young
learners. The two must come together to learn new things, unlearn, and re-learn.
This statement testify that the learners and the teacher are the two that makes
up the classroom.

A New
Framework for Teacher’s Professional DevelopmentRayize
Sancar, Deniz Atal, Deniz DeryakuluMay 2021
Teachers’
professional development (PD) is crucial to improving student outcomes. Because
PD involves a multidimensional structure and changes across a teacher’s
professional life, defining PD is complicated, and existing studies fail to
meaningfully define it. To offer a working framework for optimal PD, there are
reviewed existing articles on the subject in four key journals in teacher
education. Effective Professional Development is attentive to assessment,
research scale, duration, comprehensiveness, dissemination, context, support
and control, and collaboration. It situates this conceptual framework as a new
take on pre-existing definitions of PD that advises how to more effectively
apply Professional Development.
Teacher
professional development prospects are thoughtful and are targeted to improve
student outcomes and encourage a growth mindset. It enables educators to
participate actively in their own learning and assure that both students and
teachers are keen to learn.
To
facilitate learning with efficacy, teachers must learn how to combine multiple
modes of delivery: online, offline, and blended, especially in today's world.
Smart education is no longer an alternative, but rather a strategic choice, and
learning is no longer constrained to a closed school environment or a
particular time.

SAMPLE SCHOOL FORMS
EXPERIENCES AND REFLECTIONS ON THE PPST DOMAINS
Domain 1: | Content Knowledge and pedagogy |
I teach MAPEH- Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health every week. I teach 1 component every day in 5 sections so that every week I touches all the components in MAPEH. I crafted Lesson Plan based from the Curriculum Guide and sub tasks the learning competency to achieve the lesson daily. I also make PowerPoint Presentation for each lesson I have tackle. In my lesson, I have also integrated other learning areas like literacy and numeracy. The pedagogical method that I have utilized to help students acquire the skills to develop the ideas in a constructive way includes, drill-and-practice, Problem-based learning, Game-based learning, and Collaborative learning. These are the processes, tools, and concepts that I have utilized to deliver knowledge to my students and equip them to use that knowledge themselves to have a positive result in education. Students are always eager to learn, participate, and engage throughout the lesson. As I evaluate their learning, I can attest that they have learned the lesson and I facilitate and teach them effectively.
Domain 2: | Learning environment |
Learning environment does not only pertain to the school, surroundings, classrooms but the people in it. Classroom is conducive for learning, it has fans, sturdy chairs and tables, chalk board, good building and clean environment. It has a green environment as well that help the students have a more peace of mind. They have the facilities that the students can access, canteen, school library, clinic, computer laboratory, food laboratory, etc. that will surely give a quality education to the learners. As what the LNHS faculty members always utter, “BASTA LNHSians, Pinangga”, And it is true.
Domain 3: | Diversity of the Learners |
Diverse learners include children and students of all abilities from racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse communities and backgrounds. However, it also includes on how students differ in terms of learning. Some students excel in Math but not in MAPEH and vis-à-vis. Meanwhile, all students with a variety of learning difficulties have the same right to a comprehensive and interesting education just like others. Thus, it emphasizes the relevance of teachers’ knowledge and comprehension of learners’ different qualities and experiences. Leyte National High School promotes inclusive education where inclusivity is seen. Teachers are encouraged to cater the needs of the students and apply strategies that can be established to maintain a conducive learning structure for the benefit of the learners.
Domain 4: | Curriculum and Planning |
Each Department in school conducted a LAC session led by the Department Head in MAPEH and TLE department. We have taught on how to properly and correctly craft a Lesson Plan based on the Curriculum Guide. Learning competency should be sub task into three KSA- Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude. The teacher should conceptualize the topic as well as integrate other learning areas upon teaching your specialization. In teaching, we must relate to the lives of the students so that they will participate and engage with the lesson.
Domain 5: | Assessment and Reporting |
Every after discussion, assessment follows. Whether it is written and performance-based, yet we are encouraged to have the two in order for us to effectively evaluate the students’ learnings. It also includes the values to be integrated upon discussing the lesson. Moreover, at the end of the month, we are also encouraged to make a MAR- Monthly Accomplishment Report.
Domain 6: | Community Linkages and Professional Engagement, |
I have met the students’ parents during the 3rd Quarter Portfolio and answer their queries on how’s the performance of their children. We also hosted various programs, events, and meetings in school. Judge Festival of talents, facilitated for the upcoming LNHS Recital, and attended sessions like LAC session.
Domain 7: | Personal Growth and Professional Development |
From all the sessions we have attended, hosting of various events in school, making programs, conducting Flag Ceremony and Retreat, facilitating students during exam, managing the class everyday, making detailed lesson plan and Instructional materials everyday, crafting TOS, test Item Analysis, making exam, grades and etc., contribute a lot for us to grow personally and professionally. All the experiences that we have been through and encounter brought so much fun and learnings. From beginning teacher to equipped Pre-service teachers. Truly, “Teaching is a noble profession.” Because it makes us the best version of ourselves. |
